Privacy
Perch Web is one person in Northern Ireland who builds websites for local businesses. This is everything I keep, why, and how to have it removed. Questions go to hello@perchweb.co.uk.
Businesses I contact
When I make a preview for a business, I use only what the business has already made public on Google Maps and its own Facebook or Instagram page: its name, address, phone number, opening hours, photos, menu or prices, and the email address it lists there.
I keep that, the preview, and a note of the one email I send, so I don't contact the same business twice. The reason is legitimate interest: offering a business a website it doesn't have, once, with an easy way to say no.
- The preview is hidden from search engines, and only people with the link can see it.
- If you don't reply, I don't email again. If you ask, I take the preview down and delete what I hold, and I keep only your email address on a do-not-contact list so it never happens again.
- If there's no reply within a year, I delete it all anyway.
If you use the form
The form sends me your business name, town, contact details and message by email, so I can reply. I keep it while we're talking and for as long as I'm building or looking after your site, then delete it.
Visits to this site and to previews
No cookies, and nothing that identifies you. For each page view I count the page, the website you came from (its name only), your country, and whether you're on a phone or a computer. That's how I know whether a preview has been opened.
Who else sees it
Cloudflare hosts the site and counts the visits. Resend sends the emails. Stripe takes payment if you buy a site, and keeps your card details itself: I never see them. Nothing is sold or shared with anyone else.
Your rights
You can ask to see what I hold about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted, by emailing hello@perchweb.co.uk. If you're unhappy with how I've handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
